Learn the story of Don Alberto Becrick, an unforgettable character from our beloved Sucre.
Extracted from the literary work “Remembering is Living” by Maria Luisa Zelada de Gantier, you can delight in getting to know a historical figure — a public official: meticulous, responsible, and loving of his land.
“Supervisor of the city’s cleanliness — in the mid-20th century — as the author recounts:
Meticulous, responsible, and passionate about his land, he worked tirelessly from early hours until late at night. Mounted on horseback, he was seen here and there, even in nearly inaccessible places, at the outskirts of the city where the famous ravines were located.
This was the character from the past century, known for his unique way of working in his role as Municipal Mayor back in the old days of Sucre, along with a group of municipal guards tasked with keeping the city clean.
Don Alberto Becrick was his name, nicknamed “Huallpa Pecho,” a football enthusiast loved by children, and his best friend was a boy named Necko Ortiz despite the large age difference.
